The wildfire in Wisconsin back in the early 1900s.
The Pestigo Wisconsin fire in the Early 1900′s it started on the Door Peninsula and jumped the bay and burned thru upper Wisconsin and northern Michigan
Usually that is the answer, and because it was at the same time as the Great Chicago Fire, it didn’t get much press. But of course, you have to define “biggest” and “fire”. If you are counting deaths and 9/11 and/or WTC as fires, that would be it, even without the Pentagon and Pennsylvania.
That’s right, Truckie, many guess the Peshtigo Fire of 1871, but while it was incredibly huge, the largest fire (in area) burned an area twice the size….. Thanks for guessing!
The triangle sweatshop factory.
